Business Development Manager, Specialty Foods

Location: Baton Rouge, LA (Travel up to 30%)
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Capitol City Produce is seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Manager, Specialty Foods to grow our specialty foods category and bring innovative, trend-forward products to our customers. This is a dynamic, customer-facing role that blends relationship-building, market strategy, and sales execution.
What You’ll Do
As the Business Development Manager, you will:
- Lead specialty foods category growth through customer visits, sampling, and sales planning.
- Build strong, long-term relationships with customers and vendors.
- Research and identify emerging food trends and bring new products to market.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Marketing, and Procurement.
- Analyze sales performance and identify opportunities to expand market share.
- Organize and participate in food shows, training sessions, and customer education initiatives.
- Represent the Capitol City Produce brand with professionalism in all customer engagements.
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years of experience in a food-related industry (specialty or produce preferred).
- Proven ability to manage products, categories, or business development initiatives.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for creating opportunities and driving sales.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with frequent customer interaction.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent 5+ years experience in food distribution).
- Proficiency with Google Suite and common business software.
